Many thanks to Lynne Cox neé Spiby for her extensive research on the spiby family line.
There is evidence to suggest that 'Spiby' may be the original consistent way to spell the family surname. Spiby's can be found as far back as the 1500s. There is evidence that may indicate that William Spybey's father was Arthur Spiby.
There are two family trees that have been identified to us at the moment. One is William Spybey's possible ancestors and the other is a downline from Thomas Spiby, born Thorpe Arnold, married and thereafter at Kinoulton, Nottinghamshire. There are no doubt other family trees not yet identified to us as we know very little about the Lancashire Spibys of which there are almost as many as Nottinghamshire/Leicestershire Spibys. We also have knowledge of many miscellaneous Spiby's. We shall in time publish more information as and when the time can be found to update the website!
